I can't wait to start work on Monday! Oh and tomorrow my family might go to Pulau Ubin for a family day out! I'm super excited about it. Anyway here are some awesome links for this weekend!

Tumblr is fawesome. And umm yes, there's a tumblog dedicated to Hungover owls.

(image from Hungover Owls)

Also a tumblog for chart lovers. You know those funny charts with useless but oh so true information.

All You Haters (Suck My Balls) from nixbros on Vimeo.

Err.. the video is.. and the comments are.. Talk about hipster love and irony.

I love these photos by Adriana Gerasimova for her photoshoot, The Explorer.

This is the most beautiful and saddest love story ever. I hope they'll be reunited one day.

I'm so obsessed with typography. How to make ligatures.

I guess that's all for now! As you can tell by some of the links and video, I've been in hipster land.

Weekend Links!

What's your weekend gonna be like? I wish it was going to be a lazy one for me but I'm in the midst of preparing for a gathering at my place and my mum is once again cooking up food enough to feed an army.

A rainbow themed wedding! Makes me want to have a wedding just because.

30 days of grateful - 'summer' from hailey bartholomew on Vimeo.

I saw this over at Ruiting's blog and it makes me want to escape the chaos happening around me know. I love what she posts on her blog sometimes!
(I really am in the mood for summery day.)

Beautiful illustrations.

Honestly WTF! is A-MAZING. They have such wild DIYs! Like how to make teepee poles for a teepee.

And lastly a music video for the movie 500 days of summer. Completely unrelated to the movie but so fun. :D(PS. Zooey Deschanel has this really cute blog with two other ladies, hello giggles.)

Time to go! I hear my mum panicking.

Weekend Links!

Hi everyone! tonight is the New Balance Sundown Marathon! I'm pretty excited and afraid cos its my first time running for a marathon. Well techincally, I'm only running 10 KM but that's more than I've ever run at one go.  So wish me luck.

Anyway here are some awesome things in and around the internet.

(Image from the burning house)

I love the burning house! The website asks people to create a list of what they'll take if their house was burning. (Love the baby in the photo above. Too cute)

A too cute organizer called Wunderlist. You can download it for your iphone and android user. Now maybe I can get organized.

My favourite digital zine has just released their 5th issue! Rue Magazine totally rawks.

These post cards by Little Brown Pen are so beautiful, you can frame them up.

And here's Racheal Yamagata with Worn Me Down.

End of the World

( Image from: Free Art London)

Have you all heard about the End of The World prophesy by Harold Camping going viral on the internet?

Do you believe it?

For me, I don't cos after all the Mayans predicted that the world will end in 2012. *sarcasm*

I do, however believe in Judgement Day cos I'm a Catholic but I also believe that only God knows when judgement day is and its not for us to second guess or predict when.

But I do have a question, if the world were ending supposedly now on 21st October, what would you do?

Would you go on doing things as it were?

Would you try and hide and prepare a survival kit because of the prediction of the natural disasters that will occur?

Most importantly what would you do before the world end?

If it were ending, here's my end of the world list.

1. 'Fess up to my mum that when I was 7 I actually lost my first Tamagotchi instead of the lie that I told her that it was stolen in school. (Yes! I still feel guilty about it after all these years!)

2. Have an affair of a life time with Johnny Depp!

3. Start doing the things I've always wanted to do, altho I got to figure out how to fufill my dream of being a bookshop owner in 5 months.

So what's your list? I would love to hear from you

Weekend reads and links!

(Photo from Elle Denmark)

Tonight's my friend's birthday party! I'm so excited! Its her 18th birthday and turning 18 in Filipino modern culture is a big thing. Go google it! Its a cultural phenomenon.

She's having her debut and I'm thrilled to be part of her entourage.

I  never got my debut so this is the closest thing I'll ever get to one. My 18th was a BBQ party and I remember Sebby buying tubs of ice cream, a playground and lots and lots of sugar rush.

Anyway here are some awesome reads this week!

My favourite food blog is Sweet Paul! He's a real sweetie too!

This video will make you scream and shout "NOOOOooooo!!!!!"

A relationship advice column that's so funny all those mainstream magazines advice column will look bland in comparison.

And a cool music video to rock out to for the rest of the weekend!

PS, an Etch-A-Sketch is on my Christmas Wishlist.

Weekend links!

Sorry for not having any music updates for the past two weeks everyone.

Or any updates at all. I've been sick and is still sick, rendering any inclination to blog for the moment.

Anyway once I'm good, hopefully by Monday, I do have a few things lined up, like a playlist!

I'm pretty excited bout that one and cos its in 3 parts. So yes 3 weeks of yummylicious music. :D

Anyway here are some cool links and a video. Its a long list cos it looks like rain and who would want to venture out when Singapore rains?
(Apparently me.. sigh)

Awesome pictograph of how women see colours vs. men. Frankly I'm pretty sure men are slightly more perceptive but not to the point where they can the difference between cream and eggshell white wedding invitation.

(The next few links are awesome DIYs if you're itching to do something)

If you're eco-friendly type of person, I think this DIY is for you! It teaches you how to make your own perfume out of natural ingredients and not only that, creatively store it in a locket to carry it around!

I have an obsession with ombré anything. So this DIY is in my list. Dye your own ombre denim daisy dukes.

Sharks have vaginas for brains. LOL!
(source: unknown)

Black Swan is kinda old news now. (Natalie Portman's in a new movie about a mother dealing with the loss of hey newborn) But check out this photographs by Mads Teglar at the Royal Danish Ballet.

This looks so yummy!

Poloroids of athletes by Andy Warhol in the 70s! Now you know that cheezy 70s movie of jocks aren't exaggeration. Thinking of a retro theme party in mah head now. (via fieldguided)

ARE you excited about the royal wedding???
I am! Gosh! I watched Princess Di's wedding (my mum recorded in on tape I think), her devastating death in 97 and the touching funeral.

And now Prince William is getting married!!

No I'm not devastated, I've always had my eyes on Prince Harry if things with Johnny Depp doesn't work out. (Creepy fan girl much)

Anyway here's a beautiful illustration of Prince William's and Kate Middleton's wedding procession route.

This two nail polish colours from Essie's spring 2011 collection is divine! Should I order some or should I buy the ones I saw the other day?

How many of you love Zara's lookbook for March (and April)?? I adore their crepe maxi skirts in bold colours.

This font rocks!

Umm. I think I'll stop here. Overload of links and reads. Enjoy your weekend!

Weekend Links!

Time again for some awesome links for the weekend!

I have a love-hate relationship with long hair. This is one is for the love moments.

I hope you don't think I'm indifferent to situation in Japan as I've not blogged about it but I have helped in my own way and I hope you can too this weekend. Do check out Red Cross Society on how you can donate.

Also if you do plan to go out next weekend, Sinema Old School is having a movie screening on 2nd April and proceeds will go towards Japan Earthquake Relief efforts.

On a lighter and fashionable note, as you avid fashion-hungry crowd know, the zippered-clutch is the in thing right now but if you're unable to afford them but of a crafty temperament, check out this wonderful DIY.

So for now have an awesome weekend!

Weekend Links

This is actually scheduled, so if you're reading this, either I'm passed out on the bed after the dinner or frolicking at the beach in Sentosa. Whichever comes first.

Oh and a little intro, on this feature. I love blog reading! I love exploring too and as much as I want to blog all my amazing finds (online and offline), I think I'll be flooding this blog and be known as the girl who single handedly (is this a word??) crashed blogger's server.

Also, I want to introduce you, my readers to these awesome blogs that inspires and influences me!

1. So first of all, I think all the girls should read this! A little perspective on the ideal image of beauty being shoved down our throat by the media. How is it that Marilyn Monroe's size back in the 50s is sexy and is now considered fat today? (It kinda began with Kate Moss if you know fashion history)

2.  This is such a cute screen saver to download for your computer if you're into old school!

3. Are a francophile?? Then you'll wan't to find out how to shop like a french girl.

4. For girls who has planned their wedding ever since you watched Disney's Cinderella, A Tiffany's diamond engagement ring is nothing compared this ring, carved and handmade by the guy.

So I guess that's all for now, Have a fun weekend!

  • Graduate.
  • Travel this year with Family
  • Take photography more seriously
  • Blog at least 3 times a week
  • Graduate and start on my career!

So that's my list. What's yours?

Five Things Wednesdays.

Thank Goodness for Five Things Wednesday! Or else I won't have a single blog post at all this week (altho I do have something in mind)

1. I came across a website called Cute Overload and this video is so cute!

2. Do you always lose at Scissors Paper Stone?? Well here's an awesome flowchart that tells you how to win at Scissors Paper Stone.

Apparently there's a Rock Paper Scissors competition and I marvel at the fact that someone actually researched this not totally useless information.

3. I love bangs! You know, hair? fringe? I can't wait till my messed up bangs grow out so I can properly get it cut and style it in these 4 easy styles! I especially love the 70's look.

4. I love Lost at E Minor! They always feature the coolest stuff, from photography, illustration, fashion to funny websites and quirky products. I can spend days just trawling through their site but this is my favourite so far.

5. Tumblr is an awesome source of memes. and I found a list of words that doesn't exist in the english language. Like  this word Gheegle (or gigil in proper spelling) from my mother tongue, tagalog. It means the urge to pinch or squeeze something that is unbearably cute.
Like Mr. Wonderful. :D
Do you know any other words that doesn't exist in the English language?

So that's for this Wednesday's Five Things! :D On another note, Mr. Wonderful is planning my 21st birthday party! And I'm going to give a very big hint of what I want tomorrow. Hee!

Five Things Wednesdays.

(Wakaka! I'm actually going to let this auto publish cos tomorrow, as its Tuesday when I wrote this post, I'm egoing out on a proper date with Mr. Wonderful! Finally.)

Ahem. Anyway, here are Five Things I've found here and there (mostly on the net) and loved.

Since we're still in the grips of Formula 1 Singapore Singtel Grand Prix, do you know who's the greatest F1 pilot ever? Its Senna. No no Not Bruno Senna, its Ayrton Senna.

And I everyone should know the man who lived and died in the tracts and how the the racing world lost a legend.

I think this marketing campaign by Ben Sherman is the craziest ever. If a shop in Singapore ever pulled a stunt like this, would we get the same reaction? Or are Singaporeans too aware of the consequences if caught? What do you think? (via: clzover)

This monkey cake is too cute! Now if Henry gave me a free location photo shoot, I'll bake this for his birthday! Heh! (source: smittenkitchen)

Ever since the frisbee competition where my team won Pepperidge Cookies, I can't get enough of them! They're not tiny like Famous Amos or too sweet like Subway Cookies. They're perfect.
I need to know where to get them! Any ideas?

And finally, I'll share with you my favourite blog filled with beautiful, fairytale-esque handpicked photographs.

So that's all for this wednesday's five things!

Overwhelming Nostalgia

Okay, taking a short break from immersing myself in my notes.

On Thursday my one of my Godmother (apparently I have a few godparents) and a few of her colleagues from the Department of Education in the Philippines came to visit! They're leaving tonight tho. D:

My Godma is actually my aunt on my Dad's side.
Well, they decided to go to Malaysia and Batam since they've been to Singapore a few times.
(If not for my exams, I'd go along with them to Malaysia D:)

And I decided to share with you what my Aunt bought for us! Well the things that interests me anyway. Hehe.

Snacks!
Snacks from back home!
Oh how I miss the high-cholesterol, high-sugar, high-calorie, high-fat content snacks of Philippines.
Hehe.

Coco Jam and Peanut Butter!
Among that are my two favourite bread spread! Coco Jam and Peanut Butter. Homemade. :D
Coco Jam is like Kaya but so much more smoother and sweeter and sticky-er. XD

Smooth

Creamy

Peanut Butter

You can probably tell I'm obsessed with the Peanut Butter. You would too if I tell you that its, creamy smooth, and sweet. I can't stand dry peanut butter, Its yucky and it always somehow gets stuck on the back of my teeth.

Peanut Butter Love

Oh and here's another thing my Godma gave me.

Esmeralda

She's an Acoustic from Cebu, the province that's best known for its historical sights, scuba diving and hand-crafted guitars.

You probably met Charlie from my now defunct Project 52.
2/52 - Me and My Guitar
Charlie is Mr. Wonderful's guitar.

Now Charlie the classical guitar has a girlfriend. XD

Five Things - Study Companions

I'd like you to meet my study companions.

Everyone, my study companions.
My study companions, everyone.

This is a cup of tea.
polka dot tea party
(source)

I used to have red bull but I decided, I'm going to be a tea person from now on.
(I can't keep off caffeine no matter how hard I try, so I figured I might as well get my fix from something light and soothing)

8523 Digital Music?
(source)

Music.
I think everyone would agree that this is the universal companion to studying. I happen to have a thrifted Tokyo Cafe: Stylish Cozy & Breezy album which is stylish, cozy & breezy just as described! I think the perfect music to study to. (cos I don't know Japanese and I wont be able to sing along!)
If not, I'd be listening to classical music or anything instrumental.

(source)

A bandage.
Cos I get callouses on my left index finger from all the writing! (I'm left-handed by the way)
My method of studying, I HAVE to write notes. TONS of notes.
Its like I'm imprinting the notes in my brain as I write them. I wonder if they crack open my brain, will they see  10+ years of notes imprinted in them?

Pastel Sugar Cubes
(source)

Sugar fix.
Super unhealthy but gosh what a comfort in such stressful times. N'est-ce pas?

(source)

Not forgetting, Beautiful stationery.
My number one crippling weakness.  I love beautiful stationery. They're like my chicken soup for my soul. Be it note books or pens in every colours of the rainbows and in between.

So there you have it. My five study companions. What's yours?

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Cigarette Pants. Its as sexy as it sounds.

Oh gosh, I want a pair.

I was blog surfing when I really should be studying,
(I promise I'll study after this! This is just to good that I have to blog about it!)

I came across these sexy cigarette pants from Size Too Small.

They 're from Urban Outfitter but I can't wait to see similar pieces in fashion stores here!

One problem tho.

I'm cursed with big hips.

Sigh.

And not just you know slightly wider hips but one size wider hips.
Can you imagine how frustrating it is to find a good pair of jeans or in this case Cigarette Pants?

Things I Love

Here's a recent list of loves..

A starbucks moment

My starbucks moments with Mr. Wonderful.

A starbucks moment is one where we sit down in a starbucks, with a drink or two and chat about anything and everything under the sun!

I love it because despite being together for two years, I'll be still pleasantly surprised to discover something new about Mr. Wonderful and its a wonderful way to bond than just sitting in a dark cinema hall watching a show.

A well loved ipod touch

Mr Wonderful's ipod touch is obviously well loved and its currently back in his possession. I miss it terribly already. D:
  (HINT)

Chapter XXXI

And I'm totally in love with the present Mr. Wonderful got for me for our two year anniversary! Can you guess what?? Well the thing is I asked for it.
He was planning to get me a Krumpler five million dollar home for my second hand camera!
*GASP!* I know! How unromantic right??
Lucky I opened my mouth.
I shudder to think of our 50th wedding anniversary. He'd probably give a vacuum cleaner.

Hehe.

(PS: I told him to save the Krumpler for my birthday)

Book jacket

Okay its pretty obvious in this photo what it is.

Pride & Prejudice

He got for me Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice! My favourite book!
In hard cover!

Okay in my old blog I think I listed down what I wanted to own and one of them was a First edition, first run of publication of Jane Austen Pride & Prejudice.
Obviously the one he got for me isn't a first edition first run of publication but it is a hardcover book with beautiful original illustration by Hugh Thomson for Pride & Prejudice and its first edition text! No bridged or edited version.

I'm in bookworm heaven.

Now to get him to buy for me all Penguin's Beautiful Clothbound Classic...

House Keeping

Alright I need to get organised so here's my plan for the next 3 weeks since I need to get organised for the exams!

Blogging and Internet stuff

1. I will temporarily stop blogging except for my Project 52. The project must go on! Or unless something really ugly or really funny occurs.

2. I've added a new category called 5 Things! Once a week (This is to ensure my blog doesn't go stagnant! and sometimes just to fill in the space) To kick this off the first 5 Things was part of the blogging contest! :D

3. I will not be online or will only be online for awhile for the next 3 weeks or till my exams are over

Other Stuff

1. Just discovered a great place to study, quiet, not many people go there and near my place. Heheh!

2. I'm going to get Garlic Bread from the Robinson's Sale at Expo! I must. Its awesome!

A Review

Ok, since this is the last week of January and the month is over, let's review my resolution which I posted here

1. Not be late for class
So far, so good! Only late once or twice. I'm pretty sure its fine, come on, don't be too hard on me, I'm trying!

2. Project 52!
Booyah! Love this project! I already got my Week 4 ready to be posted on Tuesday or Wednesday

3. Work out twice a week.
I am awesome! So far 3/3 resolutions kept! No significant weightloss but I love how I have less flabs and more muscles! I've been running and working out 2-3 times a week!

4. Learn the guitar.
Umm I know which part of the guitar is which?? Darn it, I'm still trying to learn one song

5. Keep a budget of my expenses.
Pfftt. With my family finance in an almost ruin (thank god they paid for the electricity and the internet!) This is pretty much on hold cos I never know if I'm getting any allowance at all

6. Save at least $200 and not touch it at all.
I have $20! :D One where I kept for myself and didn't give to my parents.

7. Make conscious effort to review my modules! Especially for this term.
Hee! I rawk!

8. Take care of my skin especially around my eyes,
Well I'm sleeping more

9. 12 months, 12 craft project.
I have one! Craft means $$$

10. Ease up on the electronic gadgetry and the alluring, glamourous world of the internet. Not counted: Research for assignments. No choice, must go online. Doesn't mean I shall blog less often.
Having the internet cut off helped.

So, Everything's pretty much on track. I'm much happier now after that.
Makes me feel that I'm not such a lousy person afterall.

When you exercise too much.

Mood: Aching

I overdid it at the gym on TUESDAY and I'm still suffering for it.

How? You know that machine where you can change the angle of the bench? I put it at the highest rung and being so revved up after my run on the threadmill I thought why not? <-- (My sometimes motto in life that is not really applicable in certain situations)

Bad idea. VERY Bad Idea.

Ok sure, it might be the toughest way to train your muscles but at that angle its the easiest HOWEVER, you might have muscles but its covered in fats, hench cardio exercises. (EEE!! I'm beginning to sound very much like Dominic!!)

So I did about 15, rested and tried again. Didn't even make it to 10 O.o;

At first on wednesday, I feel great but towards the end of the day, I was basically hunched from the aching pain.

Here's what I can't do now without experiencing pain in my abdomen:

1. Laugh. Mr. Wonderful is Mr. Horrible! While on the phone earlier with him he kept making me laugh. So I laughed and I cried from the pain. D:

2. Sneeze. Gah! This is the worst. I literally had to brace myself for the pain. I would litterally fly back abit. Really. I was waiting for the train sitting on the bench, when I sneezed and my whole body lifted up and landed some centimetres back.

3. Stretch. Its horrible. Just horrible I tell you. I have to stretch but to me stretching is lying flat on my back and my muscles are stretched. But I have to force myself into s push up position and hold it while looking at the ceiling.

Good thing today tho, I thought I won't be able to do my cardio today as running just makes me feel as if I'm being poked by sharpened bamboo chopsticks.

But I ended up cycling earlier on with my sister. Thank God for shock absorbers on bicycles!

Oh here's an interesting calorie chart thingy you will enjoy reading!
