Featured Post: Plain Whimsy is back on!

For my first official sponsored post, I'll be featuring my permanent sponsor, MY online shop, Plain Whimsy.

I'm pretty sure its perfectly good blogging ethics to promote my shop and my shop to be permanent sponsor.

So anyway more about my Plain Whimsy.

Well the philosophy behind Plain Whimsy is,

"all about creating things with love and giving old things new life. Its about encouraging people to support indie artisans and handmade businesses and embracing a life without mass consumerism products."

So the whole concept is really about changing our lifestyle and she was even so cute as to create the Plain Whimsy Girl that she strives to be and what a Plain Whimsy Girl is all about.

To start things off, in a true Plain Whimsy fashion, she's selling these really cute Crochet Bow Pins and Hair Clips under Plain Whimsy Handmade!
And Plain Whimsy is currently developing a new pin so do look out for that!

The second half of her shop is dedicated to vintage which the owner (me) painstakingly trawl through and curate for sale.
Currently she's selling these beautiful gilded hand mirrors which are in mint condition. Do get them cos there's only two!

So to start things rolling, check out Plain Whimsy's blog because they're having a give away to celebrate their opening!

I'd participate but I own the shop :P.

The Standstill Challenge

I am a horrible blogger.

There I've said it. And I know alot of you out there will agree. What blogger leaves her blog stale for two weeks??

I've been to caught up in real life, mostly school work.
This semester being the final hurdle. I'm inundated by presentations, report and making time for a hundred and million things that I neglect Waking Up Famous.

I am not giving up tho.

Having a semi-working laptop is a pain and with no means to repair, makes me shockingly feel so disabled.
and not so surprisingly, I realised I am horribly reliant on my laptop.

(if there is a laptop God, I would be so grateful to receive a new one)

But the MONTHS(okay I exaggerated here but it feels like it) without having a laptop is strangely liberating.

Sure I've suffered from withdrawal symptoms (nausea, shivering hands and insecurity) in the first week but after a while, I suddenly found the time to jog (I signed up for Sundown Marathon this year), read for leisure and be more active in church.

So my challenge from me to you is to live without your computer/iphone/laptop/ipad for a week and see what happens.

(PS: I really do need a to repair mine or my blog postings will be sporadic  at best.)

For now enjoy this beautiful video I came across.

Song of the Week: Britney Spear's new single.

ish me all you want, I've always been a fan of Britney Spear's music.

The first ever album I bought was her debut album when she first broke out. I was 13 then I think.

Her personal life is her life and Chris Crocker has balls (no pun intended) to defend her. I guess the media scrutiny does that to you.

Anyway, presenting Britney's latest single,

Hold it Against Me

So what do you think?

Personally, I love it.

But the so called "leak" of her album? I think its staged.
Enjoy your weekend!

The last roll of Kodachrome

Okay, I know its a little bit late to blog about this but Steven Mccurry was given the last roll of Kodachrome film and last year has it developed.

Below are are some of the beautiful photos he captured with that iconic roll of film.

If you don't know Steve McCurry well you probably know the iconic Afghan Girl.
More photos on his blog.

Kitchen: Jam Drops Recipe

The rainy weather here is just perfect to make a mess out of the kitchen and this Jam Drops is just the recipe to help you so.
After which you can just laze on your favourite arm chair with a cup of steaming hot tea and a good read.

Definitely what I'll do this Sunday.

Blackheads be gone!

Don't ypu just hate blackheads on your nose? But like me find the cost of pore strips a justifiable reason not to get it (I'm cheap ok!)

Well it was pure genius when I came across this video by Michelle Phan, youtube beauty queen extraordinaire and her video on how to create your very own pore strip!

As I'm typing this, I have some jello drying on my nose. I think I used the wrong brand and my jello is pineapple flavoured. Maybe I should try the Japanese Konyaku Jelly Powder next time.

2011

Can't you believe it? Its 2011??

Glitters - Waking Up Famous

And as with every new beginning we make new resolutions BUT before that, I believe in reviewing your past resolutions because how else will you know if you've done what you wished to do? For 2010 my resolutions were somewhat unfulfilled. D: And I know this list is terribly late.

Hopefully I will do better for 2011! So here's my list of new year resolution:

  • Run a marathon. the whole 42.2 km marathon.
  • Get 100 follower for Waking Up Famous
  • I want to learn how to knit
  • Start up my online shop
  • Need to save $1000 at least and it shall remain untouched.
  • Graduate.
  • Travel this year with Family
  • Take photography more seriously
  • Blog at least 3 times a week
  • Graduate and start on my career!

So that's my list. What's yours?

Obsessed

Its official! I'm obsessed with bows (and the colour orange)! I've crocheted a dozen bow brooches in the past month and I can't stop! I love bows and I need more!

I need to find a top/dress with 3/4 sleeves and bows at the cuff! Preferably in this beautiful shade of orange. It'll contrast my purple shoes (which coincidentally ties up with a ribbon bow)
