I Say A Little Prayer For You

I've been on a movie marathon. Mostly romantic comedies from the 80's and 90's. Partly cos of a little tiff I had

I believe one of my favourite romantic comedies are ones with Julia Roberts!

If you ask me to choose a favourite, it would be My Best Friend's Wedding.

Probably the reason why I love that film is that Julianne didn't get her dream guy in the end.

No, I'm not a sadist or something along that line. Its just that I could relate to her situations. Doing ugly things to get what you want and then it spins so out of control that they only thing you can do is try to make things right.

Anyway here are some favourite scenes and quotes I love from the movie! Enjoy!

(Do you have a song?)

(Banana Phone!)

I think the ending was perfect. Despite not getting Mike, Julianne doesn't wallow in pity and moves on with her life.

"Hmm, death by mini-bar. How glamourous" -George Downes

"Its amazing the clarity that comes with psychotic jealousy" - George Downes

The best quotes seems to be from George, the gay friend.

Mister Gregory Peck

Hey everyone! I'm still trying to get into the swing of blogging regularly again. I admit that somewhere along the line, I forgot my reason for blogging and it became more of a chore. When I felt that way I took a break sub-consciously but now I'm back!

Anyway I just finished watching the Roman Holiday.

You know, the one with the gamine Audrey Hepburn?

I absolutely love that show! Along with My Fair Lady and Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Anyway, he leading man, Mr. Gergory Peck, caught my eye.

Nope, You have to address him as Mister because there's something bout him that speaks to me of old world charm that addressing him by his name is just disrespectful.

"You have to dream, you have to have a vision, and you have to set a goal for yourself that might even scare you a little because sometimes that seems far beyond your reach. Then I think you have to develop a kind of resistance to rejection, and to the disappointments that are sure to come your way" -Gregory Peck

Speaking of old world charm, I cannot wait to watch Water for Elephants! I just need to find the time.

Colour blocking

I love dressing up but my problem is that I'm cash strapped and my standard "uniform" is a basic tee and jeans.

Because of that I tend to invest a lot on accessories and do my hair differently (Still in a messy chignon stage here, might do something drastic if the weather don't let up)

I have LOTS of bags, a few heels, lots of bangles (I'm an arm candy type of gal), necklaces and now I'm into nail polish!

I totally suck at caring for my nails. Next to my feet they're the most neglected part of me.

Anyway, I got inspired by colour blocking trends right now especially by the beautiful orange in this particular Celine pouch.

(image via keepitchic)

I definitely couldn't afford the price tag for this baby but I do recall I have a bag in my closet that I can rework.. Hmm..

Anyway, I did this to my nails!

A shock of orange

Uh.. I totally suck to applying nail polish. I usually exploit my best friend cos she's a lot better at it and to make up for it I buy her nail polish. Sometimes.

Anyway I use, China Glaze Recycle and Life Preserver.

I love the orange of this nail polish! Its more of a persimon than a life preserver orange.
As for the grey, its more of a concrete grey than in the picture.

I used my camera to take this photo. I think Wanderlust need to catch more sun. (Yes I've mentioned before that I name my electronics and Wanderlust is my DSLR, Cupcake my semi-working laptop and I'm still debating if I should name my new phone Capt'n or Ampersand)

Okay! That's all for now! I gotta go get ready for work!

Where is Wally? I mean Jan

Okay its really bad of me to blog about a contest out of the blue after having gone missing for.. a long time. (I dare not count)

I can only apologize.

And apologize again because this week will be a busy week for me.

I'll be at Boat Asia working at Marina Bay Sands or Keppel Bay, most likely the latter, so if you're going, say Hi to me at the ticket booth!

I wish I could schedule posts but I'm currently uninspired. I have not been online alot. I've either been reading or sleeping away the horrendous heat spell Singapore is currently under and at the same time job hunting.

So that's all for now!

Nuffnang Contest: Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger

I'm so excited about the Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides!

I've followed the series from the first movie and fell in love with Johnny Depp. All over again!

If you ask Mr. Wonderful I'm obsessed with JD. Actually just ask anyone who knows me.

Mr. Wonderful is sometimes put off by the fact that I tend to forget him if I watch any of his movies, especially the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

So why should I get tickets to the gala premier??

I'm Jack Sparrow's biggest fan!

Advertorial: Spice Brasserie

Last week some G+ members were invited to a food tasting at Spice Brasserie.

Spice Brasserie is a restaurant in Park Royal Hotel. A very chic and elegant hotel.

(image: Hong Peng)

They specialize in buffet menus but they also have ala carte items.

They are having a wonderful promotion of featuring specialized dishes for different days and as it was a Tuesday, we had a wonderful Thai Cuisine spread!

The spread is extensive with over 60 dishes! There are a two permanent fixtures at Spice Brasserie and they are their famous Teochew porridge and the Japanese sushi bar that serves the freshest sashimi you can find!

It was quite unlucky for me that day that I wasn't feeling that well that I couldn't take some of the dishes.

(Thai Cold Dish)

What I loved:

Tom Yum Soup
Flower Crafted Dim Sum
Warldof Salad
Pumpkin Pudding
BBQ food items
Thai Green Curry

Say hi to the female chef in charge of the buffet. Chef Jeeranan. Its quite rare to have a female chef and she prepared everything on her own! Even the beautiful fruit carvings!

The restaurant is also perfect for corporate events and birthday celebrations!

Oh and I believe that Spice Brasserie is having an Easter Special, a children's buffet with lots of fun activities.
So mummies and daddies, if you want to do some shopping, why not drop of your kids here for the children's buffet. Don't worry the staff are friendly and can take care of your children. Just remember to pick them up on time!

For such a high end buffet the prices are definitely value for money with the lowest price being $27++ for a normal buffet lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays lunch.

If however you want to try a more specific buffet, their offers are.

Tuesdays: Thai Buffet
Thursday: Japanese Buffet
Friday Dinner, Saturday Lunch and Dinner and Sunday Lunch: BBQ special

For more information or a reservation don't hesitate to call the restaurant to find out more!
